Rumors about Microsoft's plan to release its next-generation tablet-laptop hybrid have been on for months. It was earlier believed that the Surface Pro 5 will arrive by either June or September of this year, but because of delays, it is expected to arrive in October next year.

The rumored tablet is speculated to be powered Intel's Kaby Lake processor, which is the latest creation of the chip maker. However, its volume production will only commence during the concluding part of the year. Hence, Microsoft needs to wait and push back the release of its tablet in order use it.

Additionally, the Redmond-based tech giant wants its latest version of Windows 10 to come along with its latest hardware. The Redstone 2 version of the operating system is still under development and is expected to be available by spring of next year.

As for specs, numerous reports mention that the upcoming device will have a 4K display resolution, up to 16GB of memory and will have a USB Type-C port. The upcoming processor will provide all these features aside from being faster and more energy-efficient than the Skylake.

Market observers suggest that the upcoming Surface Pro 5 will not stray away too far from the starting price of earlier models. It is a common practice for tech products and the rumored tablet is no exception from it. The Surface Pro 4 was introduced at US$899 for its base model and the price goes up depending on the configuration and accessories a buyer opts for. This is the expected price for the rumored tablet, unless it is way too advanced for the competition that the company can demand a higher price.

The rumored release date for the Surface Pro 5 is still months away and fans can expect more news and rumors to arrive soon.
