Microsoft has announced that it will release the Surface Pro with LTE support on Dec. 1.

This confirms the information that a Microsoft employee accidentally revealed at the Ignite 2017 conference back in September.

The announcement is almost a buzzer beater for Microsoft, which first revealed the upcoming gadget back in May and promised that Surface Pro with LTE Advanced would launch before the end of 2017.

Microsoft's ‎Corporate Vice President of Devices Panos Panay made the official announcement at Microsoft's Future Decoded event at the London ExCel center on Oct. 31. He said the device was made for mobile professionals who are looking for an alternative gadget for the MacBook Pro.

"The office is no longer restricted to a set of buildings — it's at home, in a café, a city across the globe, or on a plane... Many of our customers tell us that's what their Surface is to them — a mobile office," Panay said in an official statement.

The ultra-convertible device will get a marginal advantage from competition with the addition of 4G LTE connectivity. This will allow the device to work even if it is not connected to a hotspot-creating smartphone, as well as allow users to stay connected to the Microsoft cloud on the go.

With the Cat 9 modem, the Surface Pro promises higher bandwidth download speeds of up to 450 Mbps, a huge leap from the 300 Mbps offered by a Cat 6 modem, which is usually used by other LTE devices.

The gadget runs on an Intel Core i5 processor and a Qualcomm Snapdragon X16 modem. It also uses a chipset with 20 LTE bands so that it can work in any country around the world.

Microsoft Surface Pro with LTE Advanced will be available in two versions — 4 GB of random-access memory (RAM) and 128 GB of storage and 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Prices are $1,149 and $1,449, respectively. The new model is targeted mainly at businesses and business customers who will be served first when it launches on Dec. 1.
