Xbox One now supports compatibility with original Xbox games.Xbox

Microsoft finally announced backwards compatibility support for Xbox games on the current generation console, Xbox One. The first batch of games that are now supported include 13 titles, and features notable enhancements in gameplay and graphics.

The selection of games include some of the best games from the original Xbox console, like "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic," "Ninja Gaiden Black."

The lineup was designed to be very diverse, in order to cater to a wide range of players that have been waiting for the backward compatibility program to include original Xbox games.

The rest of the games include "Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge," "Fuzion Frenzy," "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time," "Psychonauts," "Dead to Rights," "Black," "Grabbed by the Ghoulies," "Sid Meier's Pirates!" "Red Faction II," "BloodRayne 2," and "The King of Fighters Neowave."

Players who still have the discs for these games may use them by inserting the discs into the Xbox One console. Those who own digital copies of the games will also be able to play them on the new console.

For players who do not own these games but want to try them out, many of them can be purchased digitally from the Xbox Store for only $9.99.

These 13 titles were redesigned to take advantage of the more powerful Xbox One engine, and will include enhancements like a 1080p resolution, framerates with improved consistency, and quicker loading times. It should be noted that even though the pixel resolution has improved, many of the games still run at 4:3 display aspect ratio so as not to distort the images.

System Link multiplayer for supported titles still work as well as across the entire Xbox family. Players using the original Xbox may play with other players that are using Xbox One, Xbox One X, or Xbox One S.

With the addition of the original Xbox in the backwards compatibility program, Xbox One now supports three generations of gaming titles.
