Microsoft Windows 10 Consumer Preview and Xbox One Dashboard announcement to take place in January 2015?

Recently, there were three rumors that surfaced surrounding Microsoft. All the rumors have something to do with Microsoft's upcoming event that is said to showcase Windows 10 as well as a dashboard for Xbox One.

So far, one rumor has been confirmed. Microsoft confirmed that there will indeed be a major Microsoft event coming up and it is scheduled on Jan. 21, 2015. Right now, this is the only sure thing Microsoft is telling everyone.

The second rumor is that Microsoft will showcase the Windows 10 Consumer Preview version in the said event. And maybe, the tech giant will release the version, too. This rumor is more likely true, given the release of details about the newest Windows OS back in September.

The third in the rumor lineup is that, Windows 10 will be a cross-platform integration with Xbox One. Microsoft is trying to improve the user experience by making an Xbox One Dashboard. This dashboard will be the vehicle for different games to connect to different Windows devices, like, let's say, a PC game to an Xbox One game or an Xbox One game to a Windows OS mobile phone.

Syncing games together in a variety of Windows OS platforms is indeed a great idea to improve user experience for all kinds of users. Joystiq described it as a "very attractive feature, especially to smaller developers who lack massive budgets." The Xbox One dashboard that is geared to run universal apps on the game console is also rumored to be launched on Microsoft's big event.

These are all still unconfirmed rumors based on the information Microsoft has been releasing in the past months, and the image leak of the Xbox One User Interface dashboard back in Sept. 30 didn't really help in extinguishing the fire.
