Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have been in an on-and-off affair since 2009, and fortunately, they are back together and going stronger than ever. Speaking about her 2013 split with her fiancé, the singer revealed the real reason and opened up about the importance of finding herself in a relationship.

Although the singer previously admitted that she did not regret the split, she and her fiancé first sparked rumors of a reunion in 2016. She told Howard Stern that she had to break up with Hemsworth because she did not like when relationships "are two halves trying to make a whole."

Cyrus further explained, "So, I don't think that I gave that co-dependency. I think people that break up and get back together, that's awesome. You get time to be yourself. You get time to grow up. I think if you're growing up attached to another person, you never really get solid as your own being."

The songstress also admitted that it was not easy seeing Hemsworth alongside his co-stars, before revealing that she kept him in check while on set. She shared that she had her little spies, so she did not always have to be there.

The 24-year-old pop also revealed an interesting coincidence from their break up. Cyrus dished, "When Liam — he's my boyfriend now — when we broke up for a minute, he wanted to get away from me."

She continued, "He wanted to go to Malibu, and bought this house. He didn't know it was the house I recorded my first album in! The person [selling the house] hid all the plaques in the garage so he would still buy the house. So then he went to move in and he was like, 'I cannot get away, [Miley] is all over my [own] house!' And all my plaques are everywhere."

Cyrus' attitude toward breakups is commendable. A split does not necessarily mean a relationship failed; it just says that the couple is not meant to be together at that moment. She and Hemsworth proved that another chance might come when the time is right.
