Miley Cyrus reveals real reason of breakup with Liam Hemsworth
Supporters of the Miley-Liam love tandem are in for a treat. Amid the on and off relationship, the former Disney star has finally spoken up on what is the real deal.
"Malibu" singer Miley Cyrus, in a recent interview with Howard Stern, addressed questions on the real reason behind the controversial breakup in 2013 with "Hunger Games" star Liam Hemsworth after three years of dating. She revealed that she had to end the relationship because she did not "like when relationships are two halves trying to make a whole."
The daughter of singer-songwriter and actor Billy Ray Cyrus explained that a breakup could help give one the "time to be yourself." Also, the 24-year-old exclaimed the she did not want the idea of being dependent on another person, which might have stemmed out of their young age back then.
In an interview with Billboard, Cyrus explained that getting back together with Hemsworth entailed them having to fall for each other again. The song "Malibu" was confirmed by the Grammy Award nominee to be about the "Independence Day: Resurgence" actor. "They're going to talk about me if I come out of a restaurant with Liam. So why not put the power back in my relationship and say, 'This is how I feel?'"
During the breakup, the "Party in the USA" singer was rumored to have dated Patrick Schwarzenegger for five months. Cyrus was also seen making out with Victoria's Secret model Stella Maxwell. Hemsworth had his fair share of dating other people as well. He was rumored to have dated Eiza Gonzalez after they were seen kissing.
Hemsworth and the "Hannah Montana" star first met in 2009 on the set of the movie "The Last Song," where they were paired together. Rumors of their reconciliation surfaced in 2016 after they were spotted together holding hands, having dinner.
