Milwaukee Brewers trade news 2016: Khris Davis shipped to Oakland Athletics in exchange for two prospects

The Milwaukee Brewers parted ways with outfielder Khris Davis after three seasons and traded him to the Oakland Athletics, acquiring two prospects in return.

According to the Associated Press, the Brewers received catcher Jacob Nottingham and righty Bubba Derby in a deal accomplished last Friday.

Davis, who is playing in left field during his stint with the Brewers, continues to improve in each of his three seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB).

Last season the 28-year-old outfielder played in 121 games, batting .247, with a career-best 27 home runs, and 66 runs batted in (RBI).

Davis is a good pick up for the Athletics since he is a young outfielder who already experienced having the starting job in his stint with the Brewers.

The recent trade move by Milwaukee seems to start a trend since David Stearns became the general manager of the club.

Since Stearns replaced former general manager Doug Melvin last September, the Brewers have acquired younger players and among the veterans traded were shortstop Jean Segura and relief pitcher Francisco Rodriguez.

Rodriguez was the first to leave as he was shipped to the Detroit Tigers back in November 2015, while last month, Segura was dealt to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Brewers are trying to improve their roster and perhaps are bracing for the future following another failed campaign in the 2015 season.

Like the Athletics to whom they traded Davis, the Brewers only captured 68 wins to end fourth in the National League (NL) Central division, just above the Cincinatti Reds who only had 64 victories.

The club's win tally of only 68 games was the worst in four consecutive seasons that they failed to reach the playoffs.

Milwaukee's last appearance in the postseason was in the 2011 season when the club made it to the NL Championship Series but fell to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Eating - and eating together - is never a side note in the biblical story. It is one of the ways God forms community, renews covenant, and reveals Himself.
