In celebration of the Lunar New Year on Feb. 8, Microsoft is starting the year right by treating "Minecraft" players to an all-new skin pack that is all about the year of the monkey.

Titled "Journey to the West," the skin pack grants players a bunch of new skins allowing players to clothe characters with garbs from the epic Chinese folktale of the same name. It also introduces 15 new characters. Two of them -- Red Boy and Guanyin -- are downloadable for free.

Characters in the pack include the Monkey King and other royalties, such as the Princess Iron Fan, Bull Demon King, Jade Emperor and Lord Hundred-Eyes. Other fun characters to choose from are Monk Pig, Friar Sand, Lady Earth Flow, Spider Demon, Xuanzang, Pale Bone Demon, Black Wind Demon and Scorpion Demon.

"These skins are a perfect complement to a variety of playstyles – role-players can recreate Chinese folktales, builders can recreate an imperial city in costume, PVP warriors can set up battles between heroes and demons, and more," Microsoft said in a blog post.

The all-new "Minecraft" skin pack is only available to PC and mobile versions of the game at this time. As of this writing, Microsoft has not divulged whether or not they plan on making "Journey to the West" available for other platforms.

For now, this is what the company has to say, as quoted by Gamespot: "Each version of Minecraft has different development schedules and timelines for new skin packs and content. We look forward to releasing new and fun content for each in the future, so stay tuned!"

The "Journey to the West" "Minecraft" skin pack is now available for only $1.99. It can be used on the "Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta" and "Minecraft Pocket Edition," both of which can be purchased from the Windows Store.
