'Minecraft': Horse update for PS gamers, more goodies to come

Horse riding anyone? Facebook

"The Horse Update" for the most popular building game "Minecraft" has reached the PlayStation field, and up first are the PS3 and PS Vita players of the title. 4J Studios has let everyone know through Twitter that the last-generation console players can finally mount horses and navigate the massive world with them.

The PS4 has yet to get a release date, although it is believed to be really close, IB Times reported. Cinema Blend stated that PlayStation Europe already certified and launched the animal-laden content on Dec. 20 so PS4 users in North America are not too far away from getting this new four-legged travel companion for themselves as well — one that they can ride, befriend and feed with bales of hay. Most importantly, this creature can be armor-clad to shield itself as it finds the way.

Gaming Bolt added that monsters like a zombie or skeletons regenerate with new equipment. In turn, players will have to gear up for either weaker opponents or much more strapping enemies that will come their way. The fiends players will meet can be a mixture of both so this one is all about chance.

Here are the new goodies to look forward to:

  • Hardened Clay
  • Stained Clay
  • Block of Coal
  • Hay Bale
  • Activator Rail
  • Block of Redstone
  • Daylight Sensor
  • Dropper
  • Hopper
  • Minecart with Hopper
  • Minecart with TNT
  • Redstone Comparator
  • Weighted Pressure Plate
  • Beacon
  • Trapped Chest
  • Firework Rocket
  • Firework Star
  • Nether Star
  • Lead
  • Horse Armor
  • Name Tag
  • Horse Spawn Egg

New Mobs

  • Wither
  • Wither Skeletons
  • Witches
  • Bats
  • Horses
  • Donkeys
  • Mules

As awesome as all this sounds, the "Minecraft" goodies do not end there. Apps that will perk up the world-building experience are also at gamers' disposal. The first one is called "Minecraft Skin Studio." With this, editing becomes uncomplicated and fancy, complete with 3D previews. IB Times said that there are 900,000 skins to choose from. That number will increase as the app allows users to add one they crafted personally. Next is the "Minecraft Seeds Pro," which is said to be the best in its array. Players are treated to a group private messaging with "Minecraft" friends (10 people), scores of seeds, and creations to check out. With it, users can share their creations, play with fellow "Minecraft" lovers and customize their profile.
