Rolene Strauss of South Africa was crowned Miss World 2014 last Sunday at ExCeL London in the United Kingdom, having bested 120 other contestants. The 22-year old brunette is the 64th lady to wear the title since the pageant's inception in 1951. She was crowned by her predecessor, Miss World 2013 Megan Young representing the Philippines.

The statuesque beauty was also heralded as Continental Queen of Beauty — Africa, second runner-up in Sports and Fitness, and is in the top 10 in Beauty with a Purpose.

Edina Kulsar, 23, from Hungary is the first runner-up in this year's competition. She's also the Continental Queen of Beauty — Europe, first runner-up in Sports and Fitness, winner in the Long Jump sports event, and is one of the five Top Models.

The second runner-up is Elizabeth Safrit, the 22-year-old representative of the United States. Australia's Courtney Thorpe and England's Carina Tyrrell complete Strauss' court.

This year's Miss World stands 5 feet 10 inches tall, and aside from being a model, she is also a fourth-year medical student at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein in South Africa. Her decision to pursue an education in the medical field seems a natural choice as her father is a doctor and her mother is a nurse.

"Everyone in my town called me Little Dr. Strauss because I was always the little curly-headed girl running around behind my dad in the hospital," she told E! Online, recalling her years as a youngster.

Strauss' studies, however, is currently on hold. She temporarily stopped to give way to the competition, and now that she's crowned Miss World, her studies will have to wait a bit longer so she can dispense her responsibilities. As the title holder, she is expected to travel around the world and visit various charitable projects.
