A report from The Hollywood Reporter, which quickly went uncontrollably rife, claims that the ending for the upcoming action film "Mission Impossible 5" starring Tom Cruise is being rewritten, bringing the cast and crew to a whole new round of filming mere months before its premiere. 

The report went on to claim that Paramount held off the highly-anticipated film for a couple of weeks to give way to the revision of the "unsatisfactory" ending. In order to do that, an unpaid writer who will remain anonymous all throughout the production will allegedly be chipped in. 

"Chris [McQuarrie], Tom and a third person wanted to take a minute to get from what they thought was a good place to a more perfect place," the source who spoke to The Hollywood Reporter revealed. 

The report blew up so fast that "Mission Impossible 5" director Christopher McQuarrie had to step in and, with wit, he faced the issue head on. In his Twitter account, he posted a photo of a man whose identity is obscured, the director's way of mocking The Hollywood Reporter's claims of the "unnamed third person" being tapped to rework the movie ending. 

"Live, from the set of the #MI5 finale, the 'unknown writer' sends his regards to @thr before cashing his paycheck," McQuarrie captioned the snap. 

Despite this though, the director admitted that "Mission Impossible 5" is still in production. In another tweet, McQuarrie confirmed that "filming never wrapped" and that they only took "a short break to prep the finale properly." 

Tom Cruise will be back as Ethan Hunt. Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames make a comeback in the film, too. The movie is bringing in a stellar lineup with them as well, which includes Alec Baldwin, Rebecca Ferguson, Sean Harris and Simon McBurney. 

"Mission Impossible 5" will be out on July 31.
