"Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation" has yet to hit theaters but the studios are already getting the gears in motion to develop a sixth "Mission Impossible" film. This comes in from a report by The Tracking Board that states Paramount Pictures, Bad Robot, and Skydance Productions have already green lit a sixth installment in the franchise.

J.J. Abrams, Tom Cruise, Dana Goldberg, and David Ellison are all set to return as producers while Matt Grimm and Don Granger will serve as the film's executive producers. According to the report, Elizabeth Raposo will be in charge of the film's development. 

Tentatively titled "Mission Impossible 6," the film will reportedly continue a trend that started with the fourth entry "Ghost Protocol." The first three films centered primarily around Tom Cruise's character, IMF agent Ethan Hunt, while the fourth and fifth films shifted to revolve around an ensemble cast although Cruise is still billed as the main character. 

This shift is most notable in "Ghost Protocol" since the missions now require the team to work together and emphasize on the fact that these missions cannot be accomplished by one man alone. "Rogue Nation" will continue this as the team now has to battle an organization known as "The Syndicate," an evil spy agency designed to go against the IMF. 

There is no official confirmation regarding any of the cast members' involvement in the upcoming sixth film, although it goes without saying that Cruise will reprise his role as Ethan Hunt, given that he is the series' main character and one of the primary producers. 

Since the film is still in its early stages, no screenwriter or director has been hired. Cruise has been known for making it a point to hire a different one for each installment of the franchise to keep things fresh, and it is likely that he will do the same for "Mission Impossible 6."
