The "Mission Impossible" films have only gotten better with each installment, with the recent "Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation" earning over $682 Million worldwide. It has now been confirmed that Paramount Pictures is moving forward with a sixth film that will premiere on July 27, 2018.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the movie is going to keep director Christopher McQuarrie to helm the project. He will also be penning the script. Fans will note that this is the first time a director will helm two films in the franchise as Cruise normally wants a new director for each film to ensure they are different and fresh.

It is further stated that the studios have gotten around the dealmaking problems that halted pre-production back in September, and now, Cruise has signed on to reprise his role for the sixth film. It is unclear who among the usual cast members, such as Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Jeremy Renner, may return for the next movie.

Variety reveals that the July release date may have been brought about because "Mission Impossible - Rogue Nation" also launched in July back in 2015 and managed to become one of the highest earning films in the franchise. It is likely that Paramount is aiming to replicate this success with the timing of release for "Mission Impossible 6."

No official plot has been teased yet, but production will commence this Spring 2017. Cruise reportedly stated that he aims to make the sixth film bigger with more stunts and set pieces while still retaining a strong, compelling story.

Most of the films in the franchise, particularly from the third to the fifth, have engaging stories that are perfectly paired with the non-stop action and stunt set-pieces. This is different from many imitators in which they only focus on showcasing action and special effects that do not serve the story.

"Mission Impossible 6" is scheduled to premiere on July 27, 2018.
