As tough as it can be to eliminate contestants in reality survival programs, it is a necessary move. Such is the case for "MIX NINE," where 71 contestants were eliminated and the top nine contestants that passed were revealed.

The latest episode of "MIX NINE" revealed the scores of the contestants, which determined who would make the cut. The results were based on the overall ranking of the contestants without a separate ranking for gender. The scores were counted from a combination of online votes from viewers, showcase and position battle votes as well as the perks from the showcase and position battle.

From over 170 contestants who joined, 71 were eliminated. Only 99 contestants are left.

Some of the eliminated male contestants via the position battle performance were from the group that performed One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful" — The Jackie Chan Group Korea trainee Kim Youngjin, NH Media trainees Kim Donghyun and Cho Hankook, FM Entertainment trainee Kim Sangyeon, Jungle Entertainment's Jung Seungbo, Son Juhyung of Maroo Entertainment, and Kim Sangjin of Music Works Entertainment that

From the group that performed Block B's "Very Good," Jung Wooyoung of KQ Entertainment, Han Jongyeon of Maroo Entertainment, and Manny from Jungle Entertainment were eliminated.

In the group that covered Jason Derulo's "Kiss the Sky," IME Korea trainee Kim Hangyeol, and Choeun Entertainment's Lee Changsun were removed from the competition.

As for the eliminated female contestants, some of them were from the group that performed Nicki Minaj's "Starships" — independent trainee Ogawa Mizuki, START Entertainment's Park Jiwoo, Yama & Hotchicks Entertainment's Jung Yeeun and Han Byeol, Star Road Entertainment's Sekioka Rena, Polaris Entertainment's Yoo Hajung, RBW's Jang Eunseong, Roots Entertainment's Lee Bom, and IME Korea's Park Eunjo.

From those who performed BLACKPINK's "Boombayah," RBW's Kim Sungeun, MAJOR9's Lee Suhyun, The Entertainment Pascal's Park Gaeun, DK Entertainment's Choi Jiseon, ONO Entertainment's Bang Yesol, ELEVEN9 Entertainment's Kim Heesu, and IME Korea's An Hanbyul were eliminated.

The Top 9 contestants for each gender were also revealed.

From the boys, YG Entertainment's Choi Hyunsuk, Million Market's Woo Taewoon, Staro Entertainment's Song Hangyeom, RBW's Lee Gunmin, WM Entertainment's Kim Hyojin, Lee Seungjun and Kim Minseok, Beat Interactive's Kim Byeongkwan, and Woo Jinyoung of Happyface Entertainment all made it to the top.

From the girls, JYP Entertainment's Shin Ryujin, FAVE Entertainment's Lee Soomin and Lee Soojin, SidusHQ's Lee Hyangsook, Maroo Entertainment's Choi Moonhee, Mole Entertainment's Kim Sori, Yama & Hotchicks Entertainment's Baek Hyeonjoo, and Blockberry Creative's Jeon Heejin and Kim Hyunjin were named the top 9 contestants.

Reality survival programs hardly go without some very embarrassing moments. One of which was during one of the show's episodes. Big Bang's Seungri was one of the guest judges during the show's auditions. They were currently watching the trainees from IME Korea audition until he suddenly put a stop to it as he caught them lip syncing.

He then began to ask the girls if it was really their voices in the recording, or if they asked their friends to record for them. Before one of them could explain the reason, Seungri then asked them if they were even singing live at all.

The girls explained that they recorded their song beforehand just for the audition. A lot of K-Pop fans know that artists from YG Entertainment barely lip sync during live performances, so this did not get a favorable reaction from the judges.

YG Entertainment's producer Yang Hyun Suk also caught on with what happened, and could not believe that the trainees thought they could get away with it. Yang said, "It was even almost CD level."

Regardless, they had to decide which contestant to pass during that day, and Sumin was chosen.

"MIX NINE" airs every Sunday, 4:50 p.m. KST on JTBC.
