The Chicago Cubs scouts are reportedly assigned to observe the games of the Yankees' Andrew Miller, Aroldis Chapman, and Dellin Betances to see if they can enter a trade agreement with the MLB team from New York.

New York Post columnist George King reported that the Cubs pro scouting team led by scouting director Jared Porter and Steve Boros was seen at the Yankee Stadium Friday last week as they watched the three hotshots help the team defeat the Twins with a 5-3 score.

The scouts were also present Saturday when Miller, Chapman, and Betances once again performed well together for another Yankees win.

It is not surprising for the Cubs to study the potential of signing any one of the Yankees' powerhouse trio. Miller, who became the sixth overall draft pick by the Tigers in 2006, is one of the most reliable relief pitchers in the league at the moment. Chapman, on the other hand, is the record holder for the fastest recorded pitch speed in the entire MLB history and broke Bruce Sutter's record for the most consecutive relief appearances with a strikeout. Betances was named an MLB All-Star for two consecutive seasons since 2014.

According to Pinstripe Alley, trading Chapman could be beneficial for the Yankees since he will become a free agent at the end of the current season. But trading Miller or Betances could also help the team get the bigger end of the deal with any interested team who would bid for the players.

On the other hand, Chicago Now pointed out that the Cubs would also need powerful lefties like Sean Doolittle of the Oakland Athletics or Jake McGee of the Colorado Rockies.

While there is no confirmation yet of the possible trading actions from the Cubs' camp, fans are looking forward to the team's announcements regarding the new player acquisition next season.
