This year's Mobile World Congress is happening on Feb. 22 to 25 in Barcelona, Spain. For tech observers, some of the most awaited unveiling events will be of this year's new smartphones.

Two flagships are said to be some of the highlights, but they are being unveiled ahead of the event.

Samsung Galaxy S7

According to industry followers, Samsung will be one of the first to unveil their premium flagships, as it is speculated that the South Korea-based tech giant will unveil their Galaxy S7 on Feb. 21, a day before the MWC officially starts.

The Galaxy S7 is one of the most awaited flagships, and since Samsung already started a trend of unveiling their Galaxy S series at the annual MWC (the Galaxy S5 and S6 lineups were announced at the MWC in 2014 and 2015), fans are already expecting that the Galaxy S7 will definitely make it to this year's MWC.

Tech Radar said that should the rumors about the Galaxy S7 be proven true, then Samsung has developed a smartphone that is a real keeper. Rumored specs of the Galaxy S7 include the return of microSD and IP6X-rated features, two chipset versions, and improved battery capacity.

LG G5

Another South Korea-based tech giant, LG Electronics, is also said to be launching their new premium flagship a day ahead of the MWC, and invites were already sent out to confirm the date. According to Trusted Reviews, LG learned a lesson from the lukewarm reception of the LG G4, and this year, it completely redesigned the G5. LG is said to favor an all-metal unibody frame instead of the faux leather-and-metal chassis of the G5's predecessor. The LG G5 is also speculated to feature a replaceable battery through a removable bottom panel, an improved camera assembly, and a hardware expansion feature called the "Magic Slot."
