Finally, 'Mobius Final Fantasy' has been released for fans in the West.Square-Enix

Fans of the long-running and highly popular "Final Fantasy" franchise received a new surprise. Aside from the upcoming "Final Fantasy XV" and the remastered "Final Fantasy VII," another series installment has rolled out. The hit "Mobius Final Fantasy" is confirmed to have been released as a mobile RPG for fans in the West.

The game is now listed in its full version for iOS and Android devices via iTunes and Google Play. Much like its Japan-exclusive version, the global "Mobius Final Fantasy" places players in the role of Wol, a hero suffering from amnesia who is thrust into a war against a world threat. The game plays much like other titles in the franchise, with turn-based gameplay and familiar "Final Fantasy" design.

Although the game plays and feels like much of the other titles in the series, publisher Square Enix believes that "Mobius Final Fantasy" can still give fans new experiences, particularly on its story. Some of the most involved people in popular series titles like the original "Final Fantasy" title has worked on the game, like producer Yoshinori Kitase.

Speaking to The Verge, Kitase stated that he is proud of the team's latest work.

"When we started the development for Mobius Final Fantasy, I thought about how we would be able to create a mobile app worthy of the Final Fantasy name, and the answer that we came up with was the story," he said.

The original "Mobius Final Fantasy" was first announced in 2014, and launched as a Japan-exclusive RPG last year. Since then, fans have been anticipating a Western release of the game.

Meanwhile, the new release is episodic. Although a full version is already available for download, the title consists of five chapters and a number of side stories. It is unclear on when Square Enix will be updating the game to its entirety.
