All the drama centers on the Dunphy household this upcoming season of "Modern Family," as Phil (Ty Burell) and Claire (Julie Bowen) deal with their children growing up and leaving the nest.

Deadline reports that the couple could not believe that the kids are leaving childhood so soon. For instance, Haley (Sarah Hyland) will not be the "surly teenager" anymore, as she will be experiencing her first "legitimate adult relationship" in season 7.

As if their oldest daughter having a serious boyfriend is not enough, Phil and Claire also have to deal with Alex (Ariel Winter) going off to college. The middle child will be leaving the house and start to live on her own now that she is a university student. Her parents, of course, are worried about her, imagining all sorts of horror involving a defenseless girl and hot college boys.

Meanwhile, the youngest and only boy in the family, Luke (Nolan Gould) will have some tough times ahead, as he will apparently develop "a criminal streak." It appears that teenage years will have a bad effect on him and his parents are understandably afraid of what he might become.

While minding her children, Claire also has to decide whether or not she will accept a job from another company. Her father Jay (Ed O'Neill) is considering retirement due to his advanced age and he wants Claire to take over the family business. Will she be able to finally decide what she wants for her career?

On a different note, showrunner Christopher Lloyd shared in the interview with Deadline the "enormous pressure" the show is under after winning the Emmy for "Outstanding Comedy Series" a total of five times.

"Of course it feels gratifying. I remember early on people reviewing the show saying, 'This one feels like it's built to last.' You never want to believe that. Because you feel like you're putting a curse on things if you do," said Lloyd.

"Modern Family" season 7 premieres on Sept. 23 on ABC.
