Last week on "Modern Family," the Pritchetts and the Dunphys celebrated Thanksgiving at Cam (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitch's (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) place, and Cam spared no expense for their Thanksgiving jamboree. At the get-together, Phil (Ty Burrell) had to deal with the fact that daughter Haley (Sarah Hyland) was about to go away to Cabo with new boyfriend Rainer Shine (Nathan Fillion), while Jay (Ed O'Neill) had a touching moment with his youngest son, Joe (Jeremy Maguire).

Cam went all out for Thanksgiving, and that meant dressing up and decorating their home with bales of hay and having a petting zoo in the backyard. Haley invited Rainer to Thanksgiving, and while it was awkward on Phil's part, things got worse when Rainer mentioned that he was taking Haley to a romantic getaway to Cabo. Later, during the family football game, Phil dealt with his feelings by tackling Rainer.

Meanwhile, Joe appeared to be very fond of the goat at the petting zoo and even named him Mr. Goat. Unfortunately, the goat ran into a banner and died, and though Gloria (Sofia Vergara) tried to hide it from him, Joe saw his mother trying to dispose of the goat's body. The boy then went to Jay, who asked him what was making him sad. Joe said that Mr. Goat died, and he implored his father not to smoke anymore. Jay took the cigar from his mouth, broke it in two, and told his son not to worry because he's not going anywhere.

This week, the show will air a rerun of "Thanksgiving Jamboree" and will be back on Nov. 30 with the episode titled "The Alliance." Haley's plan for a fun-filled girl's day with Rainer's teen daughter may be a little more angst-filled than expected. Meanwhile, Luke (Nolan Gould) finds himself in a compromising position with a widow at the club and unwittingly helps his grandpa, Jay, with his petition.

Elsewhere, Gloria, Phil, and Cam have formed a secret alliance to ensure their respective "mistakes" are hidden from their spouses. However, their plan may be derailed when Mitch starts to suspect that something isn't right.

"Modern Family" airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
