Capcom has officially announced that "Monster Hunter Generations," known as "Monster Hunter X" in Japan, will be coming to the U.S. and Europe this July 15. The game will be released for the Nintendo 3DS and will simultaneously launch with a limited edition "Monster Hunter Generations" 3DS XL.
The 3DS XL will not be bundled with the game but it will come with special art on its case based on the game. This limited edition 3DS XL will be sold for $199.99, according to a report from Polygon. The case will be different in the European release as the limited edition 3DS XL will come with the game pre-installed and ready for play.
Also sold separately are the "Fire Emblem" character themes that will allow players to use costumes based on Marth and others in "Monster Hunter Generations." This will be similar to how "Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate" had costumes based on other Nintendo characters like Link, Mario and Samus Aran.
Prior to the official launch of the game Nintendo will release a playable demo on the Nintendo eShop. This will allow veterans of the series to get a better hand at how the gameplay has changed and what new mechanics have been implemented as well as allowing newcomers to try out the series for the first time.
New to the franchise is the introduction of "styles" in which a player can customize how they play the game. Players can opt for a style that focuses primarily on slow charge attacks that deal a lot of damage or a style that lets them move quickly and dodge incoming attacks. Another style even allows for aerial combos and strikes.
"Monster Hunter Generations" has been officially listed on online shopping sites such as Amazon and is currently priced at $39.99, the full price for AAA games on the Nintendo 3DS and New 3DS.
