The "Monster Hunter" game series has been one of the most popular open-world role-playing games. With the latest "Monster Hunter World" teased during the E3 a few months ago, a beta version is announced to be going live a for a few days this weekend.

The announcement of the beta version was made in an official blog post of Capcom, the game's developer. The post mentioned technical details about the game so that gamers can prepare for its exclusive beta release. It will run starting Dec. 9, 12 p.m. EST and will end on Dec. 12, 11:59 a.m. EST.

The game's size is around 5.9GB. As it is exclusive, the game will only be playable online and only for those with a PS Plus subscription. Gamers who would want to maximize their time playing the game can preload it a day before its release, Dec. 8. As for how far the beta goes, the blog post also shares what is in store for gamers.

"The beta features 3 quests and 2 environments from the game. In the Ancient Forest, you can hunt a fierce yet beginner-friendly Great Jagras or as a more experienced player confront the mighty threat of an Anjanath," reads the blog post. "In the Wildspire Waste, a massive, dry expanse with swamplands, you can face off against the intermediate level mud-slinging Barroth."

As an online-only game, players can expect to play with up to 3 other players. For the weapon choices, there are 14 different types of weapons. Capcom will also be rewarding players who get to finish the beta version with useful bonus items for when they decide to get the full game.

"Monster Hunter: World" will be out for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Jan. 26. As for the PC version, there is no official date yet, but gamers can expect it to come later next year.
