'Mortal Kombat X' beta patch: New update adds more characters, brings nerfs and buffs

The latest online beta patch for "Mortal Kombat X" has arrived and it brings along access to a bunch of characters and a number of buffs and nerfs that players of the fighting game may or may not want to see.

To begin with, gamers can now play as fighters Kitana, Cassie, Kenshi, Shinnok, Kano, Raiden, Kung Jin and Kung Lao. Some of these characters received some minor alterations, both good and bad.

In the "Mortal Kombat X" beta patch, Kung Lao's EX Hat attack will feel a bit different as the number of frames he can walk freely to after a move block is scaled down from 14 to seven. Cassie seems to have lost her flip kick and armor.

Kenshi, on the other hand, has become much more formidable. He now enjoys a faster reflect and has two new strings players can use by pressing F21 and F214. He can now teleport and do some punches at the same time. Majority of his specials now inflict greater damage.

Thanks to the "Mortal Kombat X" beta patch, Kano just got more fearsome with his DB1 becoming four times snappier. The fighter also became stronger from both offensive and defensive positions as he can do a tick throw from his F4 and B1 move.

The beta patch also makes the Marketplace finally available. There's no news whether or not it has something new to offer. Either way, it is exciting to see that players now have access to it.

As of this writing, developer NetherRealms has not released official patch notes for the beta patch and the changes listed above are provided on Reddit by "Mortal Kombat X" players and enthusiasts who got to see the beta patch in action.

NetherRealms aims to improve its hit fighting game's online play with the beta. When the testing started, there were only four fighters available – Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Johnny Cage, and Jackie Briggs.
