'Mortal Kombat X' Kombat Pack 3 release date: gamers may have to wait for a new DLC

Although NetherRealm Studios did not confirm it, fans waited for a big reveal at the EVO 2016 Championships. However, no big news on "Mortal Kombat X" materialized at the event.

However, Ed Boon posted on Twitter that he didn't promise an EVO reveal, although fans read a previous post from the NetherRealm Studios executive with the letters "E, V, O" in capital letters. In Boon's defense, though, he did not particularly confirm a "Kombat Pack 3" reveal at the event, and the executive is known to troll fans from time to time. Meanwhile, Boon also hinted that the reports of a new "Mortal Kombat" live-action film are a hoax. It is unclear, however, whether Boon is denying Christopher Lambert's appearance or the movie itself.

Meanwhile, as for EVO 2016, the "Mortal Kombat XL" championships had Dominique "SonicFox" McLean defend his "Mortal Kombat" title against Sayed Hashim, a.k.a. "TekkenMaster." This is already his third win in the EVO Championships, following a win for "Injustice" in 2014 and "Mortal Kombat XL" last year. Aside from his two "Mortal Kombat" championships, McLean is already a veteran in the franchise, having won three seasons of the ESL "Mortal Kombat X" Pro League. However, this year's win did not come easily, since TekkenMaster forced a reset on the first set with a 3-1 lead.

As for the next expansion content for the game, it seems NetherRealm Studios will roll out balance updates first before the anticipated "Kombat Pack 3." Ed Boon has been teasing fans with unofficial polls for several days now, and it seems that some of the fans want character changes for Tremor and Subzero the most. However, fans still long to see the awaited major DLC released this year, since this means that the roster will be expanded once again with non-franchise characters.
