Hardcore fans believe that major announcements on "Mortal Kombat X," particularly a confirmation of new DLC, are forthcoming. However, developer NetherRealm Studios has yet to reveal details other than teasers and hints. Reportedly, the team is focused on another big-name franchise other than the "Mortal Kombat X" game.

Reportedly, since it is already confirmed that "Injustice 2" is in development, NetherRealm Studios may have been overlapping with continued support for "Mortal Kombat X." Studio executive Ed Boon has admitted it in a recent blogcast for the US PlayStation Blog. Boon said, "We're very busy. Because Mortal Kombat X we've extended its support even further than all the other games. It's actually ...overlapping into our next game, Injustice 2."

With the many changes and improvements for "Injustice 2," is "Mortal Kombat X" being placed in the backburner? Boon doesn't think so. Although the NetherRealms Studios executive did say that the company has its hands full at the moment, he stated that the creative team welcomes the challenge, though it will have to include tight-rope scheduling. Boon added, "I'm trying to tell myself it's a good thing, but it makes for a very busy schedule."

"Injustice 2" is the sequel to the original "Injustice: Gods Among Us" game, and understandably, is considered to be one of the big-name IPs for the company. Supposed leaks on the game have already confirmed new heroes as well as gameplay for the title.

Meanwhile, fans keep on waiting for news of new DLC for "Mortal Kombat X," since Boon and his team keep on teasing new developments to be announced soon. Some fans have hoped that the announcements will come at the EVO 2016. However, the show had come and gone without any word on new expansion content, let alone the rumored "Kombat Pack 3" DLC.
