"Mortal Kombat XL" finally arrives on the PC.NetherRealm Studios

"Mortal Kombat X" PC fans are currently rejoicing. They finally have the 'XL" version, which was previously beyond their reach. The latest DLC includes new skins, a new environment, new characters, and more.

Developer NetherRealm Studios finally released the "Mortal Kombat XL" PC version. This was previously limited to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One video game consoles. The DLC weighs in at 23 GB and includes many balance changes, fixes, performance improvements, and a new net code for its multiplayer. It also includes widescreen support, DSR support, and borderless window mode, among others.

Additionally, PC players will also receive The Pit environment and Medieval Skin Pack for free. However, "Kombat Pack 2" DLC," which offers four new characters, is not part of the free package and needs to be purchased. There were some negative reactions to this, but many in the community are happy with the things already offered.

WB Games also released a patch note that provides further details of the general gameplay fixes applied, as well as the numerous character-specific fixes that the update contains. From Bo Rai Cho's forward dash adjusted to 26 frames from 33, Johnny Cage's Eclipse Kick is now two hits of armor, and Subzero's Icy Slide is now also with two hits of armor, just to name a few.

Kotaku reported that there are already reports that several PC players are experiencing performance issues despite the latest patch. NetherRealm has not issued a statement yet with regards to these reported issues.

PC gamers felt abandoned after the developer announced last March that "Kombat Pack 2" will not be released on the platform. By August, Ed Boon, the game director, started talking to the PC fans again and then there was a beta test for the Windows version. Now, it is finally here.

Meanwhile, there is still no news concerning the "Kombat Pack 3" DLC. Although, it is rumored to contain several new playable characters with the likes of Noob Saibot, Baraka, Fujin, Sindel, Rain and Shao Kahn. Fans are also speculating that the studio may just surprise them one day, just like what they did to their PC fans with the latest update.
