"Mortal Kombat X" has proven to be a massive success on consoles and PC, but to this date, no announcement has been made for Kombat Pack 3, a DLC to add even more playable characters. One of the reasons why NetherRealm Studios might be delaying this is due to the upcoming launch of "Injustice 2."

"Injustice 2" is currently scheduled to launch in 2017, although a more specific date has not been announced yet. Because NetherRealm Studios is not a large company, it is likely that the developers have had to shift their focus from "Mortal Kombat X" to "Injustice 2" in order to get the latter out in time.

Fans speculate that the Kombat Pack 3 may be announced immediately after "Injustice 2" is launched, ensuring that fans will stick with the game even though it is almost 2 years old. NetherRealm Studios might wait at least a month in order to keep the spotlight on "Injustice 2."

The Kombat Pack 3 DLC was initially speculated to come out once the "Mortal Kombat XL" update was released. This update gave both of the released Kombat Packs to consoles and PC. It is noted that this update was not launched for PC until Oct. 4 this year, and fans may have to be content with this until next year.

If and when Kombat Pack 3 does get announced, it is Vspeculated that it will introduce Baraka, Sindel, Noob Saibot, Fujin, and Rain as playable characters.

The rumors point out that they are all built into the game but only as NPCs and enemies and that they all already have a programmed move list. Converting them into playable characters may not be as difficult as it was to add new characters like the case of Xenomorph in Kombat Pack 2.

NetherRealm Studios has yet to confirm or deny if the Kombat Pack 3 is indeed in development and when it may roll out.
