After months of uncertainty, it is now official, "Mortal Kombat X" will not be coming to either PlayStation 3 (PS3) or Xbox 360.

This was the unfortunate conclusion Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has reached after months of trying to release the game for last-generation consoles, according to PC Mag.

As for why the game was ultimately pulled from being released for last-gen consoles, Warner Bros. points to problems regarding quality standards they have previously established for "Mortal Kombat X." The company said that they were simply not able to meet the quality standards they have set for themselves when it comes to a "Mortal Kombat" game. With that being out of reach, the decision was made to simply end the project.

Warner Bros. has also apologized for failing to deliver "Mortal Kombat X" to last-gen consoles as they promised earlier on.

People who might have already pre-ordered the game for either PS3 or Xbox 360 don't need to worry about losing money. Warner Bros. has already said that people can go to the retailer from which they pre-ordered the game in order to receive a full refund.

Although news of "Mortal Kombat X" being canceled for last-gen consoles may be unfortunate, it is not exactly unexpected.

Originally, the last-gen version of "Mortal Kombat X" was to be released in April, according to Polygon.

Then, back in March, Warner Bros. said that the last-gen ports of "Mortal Kombat X" were not going to be available at the same time as the current-gen versions and the release date was then moved back to June.

After that, word began to come out in May that the last-gen version of "Mortal Kombat X" also wasn't going to make its June release date, and that it was again being moved all the way back to Dec. 31.

Now, it turns out that the last-gen version of "Mortal Kombat X" won't be available after all.
