'Mortal Kombat X' news: 'Kombat Pack 2' to be released in April?

Mortal Kombat X DLC - Kombat Pack 2 announcement NetherRealms Studios

While the team behind the latest franchise installment "Mortal Kombat X" finally revealed that there will be additional character DLCs, the NetherRealm Studios development team stopped short of saying which characters will make it, and their respective roll out dates.

In the latest rounds off the rumor mill, it was said that fans may look forward to the early months next year for "Kombat Pack 2."

According to industry follower Realty Today, the Season Pass for the next DLC will be released by April next year, and will apparently retail for at least $30. The Season Pass will let players have access to post-launch content, particularly the new DLC characters under "Kombat Pack 2." Aside from the new characters, there will also be additional content like new character skins, and there may even be new stages. However, it was not clear if the "Kombat Pack 2" release will be a one-time roll-out in April, or like the first character DLC, released according to a staggered schedule.

Meanwhile, not much is known about the next characters that will be added to the "Mortal Kombat X" roster. According to speculations, one character that has a high chance of making it is Spawn. It was reported previously that the character's creator, Todd McFarlane, had already given his permission to use the anti-hero in a "Mortal Kombat" game. Although he is outside the realm of the franchise, Spawn is still one of the top favorites among the four new character slots. The first "Kombat Pack," when it was released, also had a non-"Mortal Kombat" character in Jason Vorhees.

Aside from Spawn, other "Mortal Kombat" characters might also make it back. According to some observers, the list to be added in the second "Kombat Pack" includes Baraka and Rain. While both are already "Mortal Kombat X" veterans, they only appear in-game as non-playable characters.
