After months of speculation and rumors, Warner Bros. has finally confirmed that more characters will be added to the roster of "Mortal Kombat X."

Prior to the announcement, the rumor mill has been consistently churning out supposed reports suggesting the game's developer, Nether Realm Studios, was working on adding more characters to the game. Chatter about more characters being added to the game grew even louder after "Mortal Kombat" co-creator Ed Boon consistently dropped hints seeming suggesting that there was indeed more content set to be introduced.

Boon's latest tease involved a picture of four silhouettes enveloped in the shadows that would appear to be new characters for the game.

With the confirmation now given, speculation has begun as to who the additional characters will actually be.

According to Polygon, possible additions coming to the "Mortal Kombat X" roster may include Baraka, Bo Rai Cho, Frost, Fujin and Rain since those characters are already in the game anyway, albeit only as non-playable entities.

Another possible addition would be Nightwolf, according to iDigital Times. Boon has reportedly been tweeting out pictures of the moon to his followers and that could be a sign that Nightwolf may be in the future plans for "Mortal Kombat X."

Aside from new characters, there will be other forms of new content that fans can wait for when it comes to "Mortal Kombat X."

The official announcement from Warner Bros. also said that fans can expect new skins and a new environment to be added to the game in the future.

The announcement of the additions is obviously leading to a lot of excitement growing among fans of the game, although that may be tempered a little bit by the fact that the new characters and content are not expected to be out until 2016.

All Warner Bros. has for now is that the new additions will be out by the first half of 2016, meaning there is no specific date thus far.
