'Mortal Kombat X' patch 1.0.2 details; modder plays as Rain, Baraka and Sindel

Even though modders don't often meddle with fighting games, "Mortal Kombat X" has recently become a target for modding, allowing one gamer to play as Rain, Baraka and even Sindel, characters that were not introduced in game developer NetherRealms' roster.

A gamer who goes by the name of XVermillion posted YouTube videos of him playing as the aforementioned characters in "Mortal Kombat X." He revealed on Reddit that renaming the assets associated with Shinnok on the game's source file did the trick. This is why he was playing as Rain but under Shinnok's name.

Simply put, XVermillion explained that "the game thinks is Shinnok but is using Rain's model and moveset." Baraka and Sindel have their complete move sets, too, when he uses them in the game.

In other "Mortal Kombat X" news, patch 1.0.2 is already available for download. It includes several free DLC skins for select characters as well as improvements on the game stability and performance, especially on PC, such as:

  • General - Throws (regular or command grabs) will no longer connect on a grounded reacting opponent off a counter hit.
  • Shinnok (Impostor) - He can now control the location of a stolen Goro Stomp.
  • Subzero (Grandmaster) - Combos on a grounded opponent frozen by the Ice Klone will now scale properly.
  • Takeda (Ronin) - Added a new move "Quick Kall" (Down, Towards, Front Punch) which quickly returns a dropped blade without doing an attack.
  • Takeda (Shirai Ryu) – He will now always teleport to the other side when doing the Air Shirai Ryu Port.

NetherRealms will also be giving away 10,000 Krypt Koins to PC players whose gaming is disrupted by issues that arise on "Mortal Kombat X" on Steam. Gamers will get these freebies as soon as they launch the game.
