'Mortal Kombat X' PC bug: Patch update deletes saves

Jason Voorhees in Mortal Kombat XNetherRealm Studios

Players of the PC version of "Mortal Kombat X" were in for a bad case of irony after a patch update for the wildly popular fighting game, designed to stabilize and rid the game of its netcode bugs, sucked out all their hard-earned progress in just one snap.

High Voltage, the maker of the "Mortal Kombat X" for PC, pulled the 15.8 GB patch update offline when angry players started reporting the evaporation of their game saves. The developer responded quickly and released a new patch. Unfortunately, the saves that were lost can no longer be retrieved.

"We are truly sorry if the recent patch did cause you to lose your game save," High Developer stated, adding that they are to pinpoint the cause of the issue that started the outrage. "Affected players should be hearing from us soon with details on how we are addressing the situation."

The developer also left their lines open for "Mortal Kombat X" players, adding that if they don't hear back from the studio by tomorrow, May 8, at 12 p.m. EST, they should send in a customer service help request. In the support page of the game, players need to go to Ask for Help > Gameplay Help request > Save Game Issue.

High Voltage vows to "make sure that you are helped out if you were impacted by this issue." Gamers of the "Mortal Kombat X" for PC can only hope that the game will eventually be as good as the versions in the consoles or at least for now, get compensation for the damage.

In other "Mortal Kombat X" news, Jason Voorhees has touched down and he has some ultra gruesome Brutalities to show off. Predator is set to follow Jason in the arena as well. Lastly, Ed Boon, the creator of the fighting game, has alluded to Rain's imminent arrival.
