'Mortal Kombat X' latest news, character update: Game to have over 100 Brutalities

NetherRealm Studios is bringing back one of its iconic finishing moves in the soon-to-be released game, "Mortal Kombat X." The game developer confirmed the news during a live-stream on Feb. 26, saying that over 100 Brutalities are going to be included, which will bring the so-called "humiliation factor" back in the game because of the way it is designed.

Brutalities were first introduced in "Ultimate Mortal Kombat" that was launched in 1995. It is one of the types of Fatalities that are offered in the long-running combat game franchise, which include Babalities, Friendships, and Animalities. However, the game developer stopped including Brutalities in some of its more recent games such as "Mortal Kombat" that was released back in 2011.

During the live stream that was presented by the game developer, NetherRealm's Brian Lebaron mentioned that gamers can use combo moves to do a Brutality. However, the impressive finishing move may not cause added damages to the opponent or give the player an unfair advantage during the match. It means that the brutality option will just be some new finishing move that players can use to display their awesome "Mortal Kombat" skills. Some of the Brutalities were shown in a 17-minute video during the "Mortal Kombat X" live stream that aired yesterday.

Meanwhile, the game developer also teased that another character will be included in the upcoming "Mortal Kombat" installment. Although NetherRealm failed to mention any clue pertaining to the new character, the gaming studio stated that the reveal will come "very soon."

The still-unrevealed character will join Cassie Cage, D'Vorah, Ermac, Ferra/Torr, Goro, Kano, Kitana, Kotal Kahn, Kung Lao, Quan Chi, Raiden, Reptile, Scorpion, as well as Sub-Zero in the upcoming game.

"Mortal Kombat X" is due to come out on April 14 on different gaming platforms, including PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, as well as Xbox One.
