A North Carolina mother has spent nearly a week "on strike" against her teen daughters in protest of their disrespectful behaviour.

Naasira Muhammad had been walking up and down the street in front of her a Winston-Salem home carrying a sign reading "Mom On Strike!," and told reporters her children are "out of control."

The last straw, according to Muhammad, was when one of the girls keyed her minivan.

"I'm to the point where I'm just so frustrated, so to keep my hands off my kids or to keep me from doing something crazy, I just decided to go on strike," the single mother told WFMY. "I walk up and down the sidewalk until my knees hurt, and then I sit down."

She callled the police after her car was damaged, but was told she couldn't do anything without an eyewitness.

"My children have everything that they could possibly want and need, but yet still, they are disrespectful," Muhammad explained.

"They are rude. They think that I'm the meanest mum in the world. They think they can survive without me, so I said, you know what? That's fine. This mum is going on strike."

The girls' aunt made them create signs apologising to their mother, but PEOPLE reported that the family has not yet made up. 

Muhammad said other forms of punishment have not worked with her teens, and she is at her wit's end. 

"I threw my hands up in the air," she admitted. "I prayed about it. I'm through. I'm a mum on strike, and I don't care how long it takes."

Muhammad added that she plans to seek counselling for her family.
