The second generation of Motorola's smartwatches has now been officially launched.

This time around, the second generation of the Moto 360 actually comes in a few varieties, according to The Verge.

First off, there is the men's version of the Moto 360 that comes in two different sizes for buyers to choose from. There is also an available variant designed specifically for women.

Upon first glance, the most distinctive feature of the Moto 360 is that it actually doesn't look like the smartwatches of old. The original Moto 360 already stood out as probably the most aesthetically pleasing option that was available during its initial run, and the same can very well be said for its predecessor.

Adding to the aesthetic appeal of the Moto 360 2 is that potential buyers have a variety of options available to them in terms of how they could choose to customize their purchase. Motorola has said that there are around 300 possible design combinations possible for their second generation smartwatch, and just like before, buyers can choose which one they want for their purchase.

Motorola has also made some subtle changes to the design of the Moto 360 that have helped to make the second generation of the smartwatch appear even more like an ordinary timepiece, according to Wired. These subtle changes include the addition of components, known as lugs, that keep the strap in place, and also a new mechanism that allows owners to quickly change straps, and both are helping the Moto 360 2 look even more like an ordinary watch.

The men and women's version of the second generation Moto 360 smartwatches are already available for pre-order.

Later this year, Motorola is also planning to release another version of the smartwatch, which will be known as the Moto 360 Sport, that will be more geared towards the weekend warriors and frequent travelers. The release date of the Moto 360 Sport has not yet been announced.
