Moto 360 2 vs. Pebble Time Steel specs: Battle of upcoming smartwatches

More wearable devices are coming out and they seem to get better with each release.

According to rumors, the second-generation Moto 360 will come out in the coming months. The upcoming version of Motorola's smartwatch reportedly features several improved specs compared to the first wearable device that the company unveiled in 2014.

Pebble Technology Corporation is also said to be releasing a new device under its Pebble Time product line. According to speculations, the California-based company will unveil its Pebble Time Steel smartphone product this month. Just like the Moto 360 2, the Pebble Time Steel device will also feature new improvements over its predecessor.

But which soon-to-be released smartwatch is worth the consumers' hard-earned money? Here is a comparison between the two upcoming wearable products:

Moto 360 2

Motorola's Moto 360, the predecessor of the soon-to-be released Moto 360 2.

Reports claim that Motorola came up with a smaller full circular display for the new Moto 360 2 device, eliminating the appearance of the flat tire that reportedly bothered some users. Techno Buffalo recently reported that the new smartwatch from Motorola will have a 1.56-inch 360 x 360-pixel display. It will also allegedly run using a Snapdragon 400 processor with a built-in 512 MB of RAM, a full 4 GB of internal storage, as well as a 400 mAh battery.

The current version of Moto 360 is priced at $149.99, which means that the price range for the upcoming Moto 360 2 will be a little more expensive than its present version.

Rumor has it that the Moto 360 2 will be revealed at the upcoming IFA consumer electronics trade show in Berlin, which is scheduled from Sept. 4 to 9.

Pebble Time Steel

The new Pebble Time Steel is considered as the premium smartwatch product from Pebble. It is reported to have a single core 100 MHz Cortex M4 processor under the hood. Compared to Moto 360 2 which is only compatible with Android devices, Pebble's smartwatch can work with products that use either Android or iOS mobile operating systems.

The upcoming wearable reportedly sports a 1.25-inch wide display with 182 ppi pixel density. It is also made from Marine Grade Stainless Steel, which is both shock- and dust-resistant. It can also withstand water for up to 50 meters.

Reports say that Pebble Time Steel will sell for $249.00 upon release sometime this month.
