Moto E3 release date, specs news: Third-gen Moto E to launch this month

The new Moto E3 is confirmed to be released this month.Moto by Lenovo

Originally, the third-gen Moto E iteration was slated to appear in September. However, it is confirmed that fans will get to see the new lineup addition earlier than expected, as the Moto E3 is now set for release this month.

As a new addition to the entry-level lineup, the new Moto E3 shares some similarities with another budget-friendly series, the Moto G, notes Techdroider. The new Moto E3 is designed along the same lines as the recently released Moto G4. This is already expected, since both lineup iterations are the first ones designed by Lenovo since acquiring Motorola Mobility.

The new Moto E3 has the same 5.0-inch screen with HD resolution, and with almost matching dimensions, though the new Moto E has a slimmer profile. However, the new Moto E follow-up is a step-down version, since it only houses a 1.0 GHz, quad-core MediaTek processor with an 8GB expandable storage. Meanwhile, the same as with the Moto G4, the new Moto E3 has an 8MP main shooter and a 5MP camera setup at the front. However, Lenovo chose to feature a LED flash in the Moto E3, which is a first for the lineup. Lenovo also decided to feature the same front-facing speaker found on the original Moto E released in 2014.

Meanwhile, much like how the Moto G4 is designed, the Moto E3 also features Motorola's signature splashguard nano-coating. This means that the two iterations are water-resistant up to a point, and are protected against liquid spills.

The new Moto E3 is expected to be released around the same time as the Moto G4. Although Lenovo has yet to peg a specific roll out schedule, it is expected that the two will be released sometime this month. The Moto E3 is listed with a £100 in the UK, while the Moto G4 has a £130 price tag.
