Moto X (2015) 3rd gen release, specs news: Flagship leaked; rear design showcased

Days after Motorola's July 28 launch event was leaked by a Brazil-based publication, the Lenovo-owned company officially announced that a "better mobile relationship" is coming on the said date, promising simultaneous handset reveals in Sao Paolo, London and New York.

One of the handsets expected to be launched in the affair is the Moto X 2015. The device has been a regular in the rumor mills with constant leaks, with the newest one giving fans a good, HQ-level look at the flagship's rear. As per Android Authority, the product in the image looks a lot like the device that a separate leak deems to be the Moto Droid Turbo, but the source of the said image claims it is indeed the new Moto G entry.

Techno Buffalo describes the device pictured in the leak as having a stealthier design. The cover of the handset has an accented pattern and there's the signature metal plate where the camera and Motorola logo reside. However, the site noticed that the dimple is not as big as the one in the second-gen Moto X. It did note that, based on the overall design language in the leaked image, the Moto X 2015 looks rather solid and more durable.

Interestingly, there's a big fat flash situated under the shooter. It remains to be seen if this is a dual-tone LED flash. No official word or even a leak or rumor can solve that mystery. Overall, Motorola chose not to change many things in terms of the Moto X 2015's design.

The purported device reportedly comes with a 5.2-inch Quad HD AMOLED display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor. Consumers are also possibly looking at 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB or 64 GB storage, a big 3280 mAh battery, and a 16- and 5-megapixel camera combo.

The Moto X 2015 is said to be released on July 28 with its alleged Sport variant and, presumably, the new Moto G and Moto Droid.
