The second-generation of Motorola's flagship smartphone, the Moto X.Motorola

Is Motorola gearing up to release its next flagship phone for 2015?  The alleged specs of the third-generation Motorola Moto X was spotted by PhoneArena on STJS Gadgets Portal website.

According to the rumors, the soon-to-be released Moto X 2015 will come with a 5.2-inch QHD AMOLED panel which is similar to the one featured in the Motorola Moto Droid Turbo. It will also be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset, 4 GB of RAM, and an option of 32 GB or 64 GB of built-in memory. The new Moto X 2015 is also said to have a 16-megapixel primary rear-end camera with a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter, a big 3,280 mAh battery, as well as an Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system straight out of the box.

The speculations about the planned release of a new Motorola flagship smartphone was further fanned when the company began offering the Moto X 2014 at reduced prices on May 5 and 6 as their Mother's Day promo. Those who will avail the promo can purchase the 32 GB version of the second-generation Moto X for only $349.99 instead of the usual $549.99 price tag, while the 64 GB version can be purchased for just $374.99 instead of the original price of $599.99 off-contract.

The news about a new version of the Moto X was first tackled in March, when Motorola President Rick Osterloh answered a fan question on Twitter about its possible timeframe.

"Motorola will stay on a roughly annual cycle for all our products, including Moto X," the Motorola executive said.

Osterloh also said during the Mobile World Congress event in March that their planned Moto X 2015 will not come out with the rumored fingerprint scanner.

If that is the case, smartphone fans can expect to see the new Moto X 2015 with the rumored specs sometime in August or September this year, just like the previous versions of the smartphones.
