The Moto X Pure Edition's price is giving it a distinct edge over its closest contemporaries in the smartphone market.

As of now, the listed price for the 16GB version of the Moto X Pure Edition stands at $399. To put that number into perspective, Motorola's offering sells for a $100 less than LG's G4, $150 less than Samsung's Galaxy S6 and $350 less than the iPhone 6 Plus.

Smartphones that are priced less than the aforementioned models are not rare, given that those models are considered to be cream of the crop when it comes to handheld devices. But what makes the price of the Moto X Pure Edition particularly notable is the fact that it manages to pack many of the features that have made those high-priced models stand out, but without the hefty price tag.

Some within the smartphone industry even consider the Moto X Pure Edition to be the superior device, with CNN Money labeling the predecessor of the current model as the "best smartphone of 2014."

The Moto X Pure Edition is receiving rave reviews mainly because its features. The phone itself is highly customizable; it comes loaded with functionalities that are specifically meant for better personalization. The phone also responds to specific gestures and phrases used by its owner, allowing it to execute commands without requiring the user to exert much of an effort.

According to Forbes, the one area in which the Moto X Pure Edition can be docked some points is when it comes to taking photos. Yet even then, its disadvantage in this area is not significant enough so as to tarnish it.

The phone still makes up for its one deficiency by providing users with an even stronger battery than the one available for its 2014 version, allowing owners to get more hours out of the Moto X Pure Edition.
