Most flagship smartphones are touted to have the most excellent specs, the latest in design, and the very best in terms of performance. However, with many units to choose from, users who want to have the perfect phone in their hands will have to scrutinize each one's features and specs in light of their personal preferences and needs.

Now that smartphone giant Samsung finally released its Galaxy S6, how will it fare against the competition, like Motorola's second-gen Moto X and Nexus 6?

The Moto X 2014, rolled out in September last year, is the earliest to be released, followed by Nexus 6 a month later. Together with the S6, all three have capacitive touchscreen form factors, standard Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC, and Bluetooth connectivity. However, only the Moto X has DLNA capability, although it loses out in terms of sensors. Both the S6 and the Nexus 6 have the complete sensor lineup, while the Moto X lacks a barometer sensor.

For longevity, the Nexus 6 takes the cake with its 3220 mAh battery capacity, followed by the S6 at 2550 mAh. The Moto X loses at 2300 mAh, although its juice is adequate to last a whole day. Because of the high capacity battery, the Nexus 6 is the heaviest at 184 grams, while the S6 is the lightest at 138. The Moto X, meanwhile, weighs 144 grams.

In the camera department, the S6 is also the clear winner with a 16-megapixel main camera, since both the Moto X and the Nexus 6 only have 13-megapixel primary shooters. Although the number of pixels is just one factor, the S6 also comes out on top since it boasts new features in image processing, such as optimal image stabilization, real time HDR, infrared white balance, and tracking auto focus.

Hardware-wise, the S6 has an advantage being the most recent to come out in the market. Touting the latest Exynos 7420 octa-core chipset, it is supported by 3 GB of RAM for better multitasking. Both the Moto X and the Nexus 6 run on quad-core Snapdragon processors, and have 2 GB of RAM.
