Lenovo is said to come out with another Moto Z iteration. Speculations say that the rumored Moto Z Play will be a modest version of the flagship, featuring a Snapdragon 625 chipset.

According to Ubergizmo,  the said new version in the Moto Z lineup is in the works. Dubbed the Moto Z Play, the new iteration is said to feature a Snapdragon 625 chipset. Although an above-average Qualcomm processor, the Moto Z Play will indeed serve as the regular version of the lineup, as the SD 625 is lower in power than the current-gen Snapdragon 820, the top-tier chipset powering the already-announced Moto Z and Moto Z Force.

While Lenovo has yet to confirm the new upcoming iteration, the existence of a Moto Z Play is certainly possible, given that previous top-tier Moto lineups also have several models The previous-gen Moto X flagships came in a variety of versions, with the Moto X Force and Moto X Play among them.

Other purported specs of the upcoming Moto Z Play include 2GB of RAM, a 5.5-inch screen with 1080p resolution, 16GB of onboard storage, and 3,600 mAh battery. It is unclear though if the Moto Z Play will also offer the modular design of the Moto Z family. If this is so, then the Moto Z Play will also be compatible with MotoMods, the add-on modules for the Moto Z lineup.

As for the Moto X, Lenovo previously confirmed that the Moto Z lineup is not a replacement for the previous-gen Moto X. Indeed, the company has also revealed that they intend to continue with the Moto X lineup in follow-up releases.
