Motorola is currently in the process of helming its heir to the Moto X4 — the Moto X5. The Moto X flagship smartphone has already been in the market since 2013 when the original Moto X introduced itself. The launching of Moto X4 this year kept the series successful even though no Moto X smartphones were released in 2016.

Known technology leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks) was the one who first shared the name of the new Moto X device and its logo. He unveiled the Moto X5 in a manner similar to how he revealed the name and logo of the Moto X4 this year, as noted by GSMArena.

Moto X4 is just starting to make itself known but rumors are already circulating the internet about a new smartphone that is next in line. Moto X4 was announced in August and launched in October.

Since Moto X5 is going to be the successor of Moto X4, it is anticipated that the specs and features of the upcoming device will not be far from the old one. The Moto X4 has an IP68-rated glass and metal design which is water-resistant to protect the device from inside and out. The Moto X4 has a dual rear camera system and a 16-megapixel selfie camera.

The Moto X4 can also run over business cards to the phone user's contacts as well as scanning barcodes upon purchasing. The device sports a selective focus that masks the foreground's background of images and provides an explicit focus on the main subject at the same time. The best part of it is that Alexa can be used without the necessity of unlocking it.

Not much is known about the Moto X4's successor — Moto X5 — at the moment. It is expected to be launched sometime in 2018. Moto X4 had a starting price of $400, and Moto X5 could not be far from that price point.
