Motorola announced price drops for the third generation Moto G and the Moto G Turbo Edition for buyers in India. The price cut brings the handset's value lower by Rs. 2,000.

The Motorola handsets are made exclusively available on Flipkart, an electronics distribution website based in India. The new prices have been published on the website, with Rs. 2,000 price cuts being applied to variants of the Moto G third Gen and the Moto G Turbo Edition.

The 8 GB variant of the Motorola Moto G (Gen 3), which was sold at Rs. 11,999 prior to the price cut, will now sell for Rs. 9,999 only. The price of the 16 GB variant of the Moto G (Gen 3) also went down from Rs. 14,999 to Rs. 12,999. The third generation of the Moto G was released in July 2015, and sports a 5.0-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The handset is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 and coupled with 1 GB of RAM for the 8 GB internal memory variant, and 2 GB of RAM for the 16 GB internal memory variant. The primary camera of the device has 13 megapixels, while the secondary shooter has 5 megapixels.

The Moto G Turbo Edition also comes with a 5.0-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with the same resolution as the latest Moto G. The chipset is a Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 coupled with 2 GB of RAM. The handset runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware at the moment, but plans are to build an Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Turbo.

In addition to the price cut, Motorola is also offering discounts on exchanges for old Motorola handsets. A discount of Rs. 4,000 will be given on Moto G (Gen 3), and a discount of up to Rs. 5,000 on the Moto G Turbo for users who opt to exchange older Motorola smartphones.
