Motorola to release mystery device on Feb. 25

Is Motorola releasing another smartphone this week? Motorola

Motorola is planning to surprise the world on Wednesday, as a mystery announcement is set to be revealed by the company this week. In an email sent to the members of the press, the electronics company teased about an upcoming launch that will happen on Feb. 25.

"Motorola is making an exciting announcement next week and wants you to be in the front row. The best part? You get to choose where and when you'd like to experience it. Everything you need fits inside one box, which we will deliver to your doorstep on Wednesday," the email stated.

Since there is no hint about what kind of device will be unveiled by Motorola on Wednesday, several speculations have been going around online. Tech Times reported that some of the speculations are pointing toward a new Moto 360 smartwatch, while others think that the company is planning to unveil the next generation of its flagship Moto X smartphone or a different new phone altogether. There are also reports claiming that the mystery box will contain a device that has been worked on by Motorola and Lenovo, after the latter purchased the mobile manufacturing brand from Google last year.

Aside from the mystery product, Motorola also declared in January that they will bring back their headquarters to China. This means that most of the recent Motorola products like the Moto X Pro, the Moto X, the Moto G and others will be offered in the country after the Chinese New Year.

"Today was a wonderful day for Motorola fans and employees in China. A day that we've imagined for more than two years, and have been waiting for since Lenovo acquired us nearly three months ago," the official Motorola blog stated.

However, there is also a possibility that the mystery box will contain another invitation for the mobile manufacturing brand's press event during the 2015 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
