"Mr. Robot" season 2 has everyone excited especially after parched months where there were no solid details about the upcoming season available. Thankfully, executive producer Sam Esmail has finally dished new details about the award-winning show.

[Spoiler Alert! Proceed with caution] Esmail said that the new season's driving force will be Elliot coming to terms with the fact that Mr. Robot (played by Golden Globe winner Christian Slater) is no more than a figment of his imagination.

"There will be a lot more backstory that will be shown, the timeline will get a little clearer — not 100 percent clear, because where's the fun in that? But a little clearer," Esmail promised to Entertainment Weekly, referring to what "Mr. Robot" season 2 will be all about.

"It really is about Elliot trying to reconcile what this means in seeing Mr. Robot. The series is filling in the blanks of the past and the present of this character ... It's about a guy who becomes aware of this delusion he's been having," the EP went on to explain.

Mr. Robot being a fantasy is the biggest twist of the show's first season. When asked about whether or not there will be more twists, he said there "probably" will be although during his IGN interview, he emphasized that he has no plans on "shocking" viewers but he believes it will inevitably happen anyway.

Esmail reiterates that "Mr. Robot" season 2 will be all about Elliot's realization and the hacker trying to reconcile with that. He added that the season will be "really going to go into the mind" of Elliot.

According to Entertainment Weekly, "Mr. Robot" season 2 will take place 30 days after the events in the first season. Esmail promises that Whiterose's dealings in the final moments of the season 1 finale will be addressed "sparingly" as well as the mystery of why Elliott's sister was nowhere to be seen in the Times Square sequence.

"Mr. Robot" season 2 is expected to premiere June or July 2016.
