Season 2 of the hit USA Network series "Mr. Robot" is expected to reveal what happened to Tyrell (Martin Wallström) when he suddenly went missing during last installment's finale.

When Elliot (Rami Malek) woke up alone in the car of the former Evil Cop. executive, he briefly thought that Tyrell helped him in the plan to rid people of their debts. But when the hacker searched for him, the guy was nowhere to be found. Some speculate that Tyrell was actually the masked man who spoke about the people's freedom after the heist. If that is the case, viewers can expect that when he eventually resurfaces, Tyrell will be working closely with Elliot.

His loyalty, however, will be put to a serious test. It will be difficult for anyone to trust Tyrell. He has proven that he thirsts for power and will do anything, even kill someone, to get what he wants. If he chooses to help Elliot with his mission in season 2, it will be worrying to wait for the exact moment he decides to betray the other man. Elliot is bound to be grieving still for his loss and guilt after failing to save Shayla (Frankie Shaw). Devious Tyrell is the last person he needs to stay by his side.

Meanwhile, series creator and showrunner Sam Esmail spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the finale and what's in store for season 2. He said that the world that Elliot would be entering for the next installment was akin to Rome burning. Esmail also shared that there would be no time-jump, and that the storyline would be continued for season 2.

The executive producer also talked about season 1 being the "canvas" that set up where they're going with the show. For Esmail, it was the "first act," wherein Elliot accomplished his goals and set the world in chaos.

"What would happen to society... if the consumer-debt industry were to be erased? To me, that canvas was something I was interested in exploring, so, for me, that's what that last scene sets up. We're about to watch Rome burn. That's the world Elliot's going to enter next season," he said.

"Mr. Robot" Season 2 is set to premiere sometime in 2016.
