The second season of "Mr. Robot" is bound to get serious as Rami Malek's Elliot will face on bigger opponents.

According to Franchise Herald, fans should expect that the mentally unstable Elliot will have more conflict to deal with when the show returns.

The protagonist may have successfully infiltrated Evil Corp, but he may be in for a bigger trouble with the challenges he's about to face. There's even a possibility of featuring hacking outside of the United States.

"Mr. Robot" is such a huge success that series creator Sam Esmail revealed to Los Angeles Times that they could take on international themes.

"The idea of wanting to change the world, wanting to revolutionize your society, that's not just something that's happening in America," he said, according to LA Times.

"Loneliness has increased, and that's an impact of technology. That's a global thing and doesn't just pertain to America. Who can't relate to that?" he added.

Esmail even said that the show could last for a good four to five seasons, which means fans of the drama-thriller series can still expect to see more captivating plots and interesting characters.

Not much has been revealed about season 2 of the show, but Esmail did drop some hints as to what's to come.

For instance, the show will give answers to questions on how Christian Slater's character, Mr. Robot, can talk to Elliot's acquaintances even if he's just a part of his imagination, as previously reported by Deadline.

There's also the possibility that writers of the series may consider creating the plot of Elliot avenging the death of Shayla (Frankie Shaw), his girlfriend, and in the process he'll meet the notorious drug lord, Fernando Vera (Elliot Villar).

While waiting for the series and its premiere updates, fans are urged to enjoy a "Mr. Robot" 24-hour marathon on Dec. 29, starting at 11 p.m.

Although nothing has been set on stone, the premiere date for "Mr. Robot" season 2 is expected to be in June or July 2016.
