MTV has confirmed that Justin Bieber will be performing tonight at the Video Music Awards. For the first time, the 21-year-old singer will perform his brand new single "What Do You Mean?" which he has been promoting on social media. 

Bieber is one of the slew of artists performing live at the event, which will be hosted by "We Can't Stop" singer Miley Cyrus. The star has been preparing for his number, and photos from his rehearsal suggest that there will be flashing lights and his backup dancers will be garbed with everything white. 

Gossip Cop quotes Bieber as saying that he is "so excited but nervous" for the VMAs. After a two-year hiatus, this will serve as the singer's comeback to the music scene, which is undoubtedly the single moment every Belieber has long been yearning to see. 

"I just want it to be so awesome, and I'm perfectionist, and then I start getting in my head," Bieber revealed in an interview with Ryan Seacrest via Gossip Cop. He has also been tweeting about the tiring rehearsals and the excitement. 

This won't be the first time Bieber will perform at the VMAs. He first graced the event back in 2009, and it was back in 2010 when he took the stage to belt out his hit songs "Baby" and "Somebody to Love" while showing off some dance moves and drum skills. He won the award for Best New Artist in that same event.

The following VMAs also saw Bieber perform and snag more awards and nominations. This year's VMAs "What Do You Mean?" is up for four nominations – Best Art Direction, Best Visual Effects, Best Editing, and Song of the Summer. 

Along with Bieber, the MTV VMA 2015 will welcome The Weeknd, Pharrell Williams, Demi Lovato, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis; Tori Kelly, A$AP Rocky, and Twenty One Pilots on stage.
