A 27-year-old woman has accused her colleague of kidnapping and raping her for five days in an effort to convert her to Islam and marry him.

The woman, whose name was withheld, was found bruised and in shock inside the man's flat in Hyderabad, India after she managed to send an emergency text and post a cry for help to her Facebook friend, police said, as reported by the Indian Express.

She told police that her co-worker, Syen Emad Hasan, 30, a systems engineer at a Dell-computer repair shop in Hyderabad, India "brutalised and sexually assaulted'' her after picking her up at the airport on Dec. 14.

Hyderabad police said the incident stemmed from a courtship that ended in the rejection of Hasan's proposal to the woman to marry him.

The woman reportedly explained to Hasan that her family do not allow inter-religious marriage, but the man pursued her, prompting the latter to move from Hyderabad to Dubai to escape his attention.

After she left for Dubai, Hasan relentlessly pestered and threatened to post obscene pictures of her to family members on social media, according to police.

"The woman told us she was forced to talk to Hasan as he showed her photos and videos of them together in Hyderabad, and threatened to send them to her father. He also demanded that she send inappropriate photos of her,'' said Inspector Ravinder of the local police.

Unable to cope with the threats, the woman agreed to return home and meet with Hasan apparently in exchange for the photos and videos. On Dec. 14, the man picked her up from Hyderabad airport, then eventually abducted and locked her up.

"He took her to the flat in Al-Hasanath colony and confined her. ... From then onwards, he took away her phone, passwords of her e-mail, Facebook, and started using them in her name. She was denied access to anybody. He also tore up her passport,'' police said.

Hasan then started a five-day process of physical and sexual assault in an attempt to make her convert to Islam and then marry him, before she was able to contact friends for help. Hasan was away at that time, according to the police.

The police said they immediately dispatch a team to rescue the woman as soon as they were informed of the incident by the woman's brother and friend.

"We found her in the bathroom with injuries on her head and body. She was scared and in shock, but managed to narrate her ordeal. Hasan said they were lovers, but the woman appears to be very scared in his presence.''

Police also found photos and videos of the woman on Hasan's mobile phone and laptop.
