More changes are expected to happen when "Narcos" returns to Netflix for its sophomore season.

After the streaming service provider announced in September 2015 that the critically acclaimed biographical crime thriller will have a second season, Deadline revealed that "The Bridge" star Eric Lange will join the show in a regular role.

According to the report, Lange will portray the role of CIA Special Agent Stechner, who will work alongside the DEA in Medellin. He will join Wagner Moura, who portrays the iconic role of big-time Colombian drug lord and Medellin Cartel leader Pablo Escobar; Pedro Pascal as DEA agent Javier Pena; and Boyd Holbrook as DEA agent Steve Murphy.

Aside from the additional cast members, the second season of "Narcos" is also reportedly getting a set of writers after Chris Brancato left the series after season 1. Executive producer Eric Newman shared during a press conference about the show that he and Jose Padilha still be in charge of the show's production but they are still looking forward to bringing in a new set of producers to help them with the series.

"Really José and I have still maintained control of the show. We had a great partner last year in Chris Brancato and then we began the season with a great writing partner who did what we had hoped he would do, which was help focus us," Newman explained, as reported by Slash Film. "The show is exactly what we want it to be and very much takes into consideration what we felt worked last season, and areas we wanted to improve on a production basis. It is very much the show we want."

Meanwhile, the plot of "Narcos" season 2 is expected to feature the death of the Colombian drug smuggler. Escobar was killed by the Colombian National Police after escaping prison in 1993.

Cameras are reportedly rolling for the production of "Narcos" season 2 in Colombia, but Netflix has yet to reveal the official release date of the show.
